A shared SU framework lets the consortium compare different hardware tiers and prevent well-funded groups from consuming a disproportionate share of the resource.

Persistent storage rates apply up to 100 TB. The planning materials indicate that storage above 100 TB can be provisioned without the standard rate, but only through separate administrative review and allocation approval.

The SU ledger is shared, but the way those SUs are funded can vary by institution. The materials you provided use Cornell as an example:
  • Cornell subsidizes SU usage through the Provost’s office until November 2026.
  • After that date, 1 SU carries an internal chargeback rate of $0.50.
That internal rate is still intended to remain well below commercial cloud pricing for equivalent advanced AI capacity.
